The Spartina Consort, The Lowcountry's premier Early Music chamber ensemble, returns for the Fall 2024 concert season with a program of music from England's Golden Age.The 150-plus years between the death of King Henry the Eighth in 1547 and the death of Queen Anne in 1714 were a time of great political and social upheaval in England, and abroad. Despite the controversy and turmoil of 'these distracted times,' the musicians of England enjoyed a heyday as the escapist fantasy of private music-making became all the rage, and London began to take its place as a cultural capital. Join us as we explore the stunning music from this 'brave world... full of religion, knavery, and change.'
