Join the Malmö sessions at Sustainability Nexus 2024
Join us in Malmö for our sustainability focused sessions, as part of the second edition of the Sustainability Nexus conference!
A day for you to learn about initiatives, ideas, tools, practices for a sustainable game industry and game creation.
Hear what international experts have to say about the responsibility and opportunities for the game business and game creation from various sustainability perspectives;
- environment,
- diversity, equality and inclusion,
- and economic sustainability.
How can I join?
As the Sustainability Nexus is a hybrid conference - there are various ways of joining!
Online only or in person from Malmö - we're offering both options!
The during the morning with streamed live presentations from various sites around Europe.
The Malmö location will run all keynotes and talks on big screen - as well as running a LIVE TALK in our Atrium at DevHub! We're also offering our participants networking opportunities, refreshments during the day - and a WORKSHOP in the afternoon.

From our Malmö satellite, we are happy to have sustainability consultants & partners from U&We - Anna Larsson and Amanda Möttönen - joining us. They will share their work and insights from their field of expertise, environmental sustainability, including a climate calculator tool recently released as part of the SUSINDI project (a collaboration between Game Habitat, Dataspelsbranschen, RISE and U&We).

Play, Create, Calculate – the Why and How of tracking and reducing your climate impact
Sustainability consultants from U&We present the newly released toolbox for calculating and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from game development, as part of the Vinnova funded project, Sustainability in new digital industries (Susindi). They will talk about why tracking your carbon footprint is important, and how you can do it with different levels of ambition and resources. Understanding the emissions of your own organization and in the value chain leads to the next part: identifying actionable steps to reduce your carbon footprint.

Play, Create, Calculate - Plan your Climate Assessment 2024 (with U&We)
Get started with implementing an impactful climate assessment in your studios.
In this interactive session, participants will gain hands-on experience with using our climate assessment toolbox. Including:
- An overview, highlighting key tools and features, and in-depth walkthrough of the climate calculator.
- Individual exploration of how to use the climate calculator
- Support in getting started planning your studio's climate assessment for 2024
- Looking at ambition level, resources, timeplan, data collection, how to get your organization onboard etc.
- Identify potential challenges with doing a climate assessment and how to overcome them
This workshop is for you who is interested in understanding the climate impact from game development and how a studio can start tracking and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions.
ABOUT THE MALMÖ SPEAKERS
Amanda Möttönen
Amanda is sustainability consultant and partner at U&We. Her study background is global studies and human ecology. At U&We, Amanda works with impact analysis, climate assessments and sustainability reporting with focus on reconciling good profitability with social responsibility and environmental considerations.
Anna Larsson
Anna is sustainability consultant and partner at U&We. Her study background is business economics and sustainable development. At U&We, Anna works with impact analysis, sustainability reporting and strategy with focus on sustainability-driven business development.
