About this Event
This is a fundraiser for Central and West Integration Network, who provide support to Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Glasgow.
You will get a chance to cook a dish from another country, eat together take away the recipes, chat to others and break down barriers through food.
This event is delivered by our team at Food and Climate Action, a project delivered in partnership with 6 organisations in Glasgow and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.
Central and West Integration Network is one of the partners in this project. Also known as CWIN, it is a charity based in the centre of Glasgow that helps migrants and BME people address their immediate needs. It offers a wide variety of opportunities that enhance social connection, skills development, access to resources, and wellbeing.
Soul Food Sisters was founded in 2018. Based in East Glasgow, it is a not-for-profit collective bringing together migrant women to provide catering, workshops and events based around our favourite thing: food!
Accessibility
Mobility
Soul Food Sisters has a small step at the entrance door to get inside the building and apart from this is all on one level (ground floor) including the toilet. The toilet is not wheelchair accessible or ambulant and does not have changing facilities. Because of the arrangement of tables and chairs, the space is not wheelchair accessible, but tables and chairs could be moved to accommodate a wheelchair user.
Other physical disabilities:
There is no hearing loop.
Neurodivergence and/or mental health access:
The kitchen and workshop space are all in the same space, so it is difficult to get away from people for quiet time unless leaving the cafe.
