About this Event
Plastic-Free Hackney's Monthly Pollution Pick** ?
Last Sunday of the Month
From 10am -12pm
Princess of Wales pub car park E5 9RB
are delighted to be running our Monthly Pollution Picks once again in 2022!
We are super pleased to be able to guarantee TOPUP TRUCK will be with us every month, so you can reward your local activism with package-free chocolate/porridge/dog biscuits... whatever it is that takes your fancy... The truck will be with us from 10am, so you can do your shopping and leave it with us whilst you do the pick.
As ever, please come dressed in robust outdoor clothes with appropriate footwear (no open toed shoes). Unless it's torrential rain, we will go ahead whatever the weather, so waterproofs are recommended.
Public loos are not readily available. We advise that you 'go' before you arrive ; )
Please do book a ticket in advance of coming to the Pollution Pick - this way we are able to keep track of numbers and know how much equipment we will need.
Our equipment is limited, so please do only book if you know that you're going to come. If plans change we'd be grateful if you could cancel your ticket so we can ensure as many bodies are out there as possible removing the pollution.
**You may notice these events have been reborn as 'Pollution Picks'. The word 'litter' puts the onus on the people who have dropped it, rather than the producers of single-use plastics who are actually responsible for it. After all, if the plastic wasn't wrapping the crisps/water/Haribo there'd be nothing to pick up.

How we run Pollution Picks
1. Booking
It's always helpful for us to know who is coming, so please do book a spot in advance. If you're coming as a group, please book for the number of people expected to come
2. PPE
We have hand sanitiser available.
3. Equipment
We will provide litter-pickers, hoops and sacks. Please keep personal belongings to a minimum - you will need to carry them with you. Only bring food and drink if you are also carrying your own hand sanitiser so that you can clean your hands before eating or drinking.
4. Travel
Parking is tricky, we advise using public transport if you can and actively encourage you to walk or cycle!
5. COVID
If you are feeling ill or have symptoms of COVID-19 - please do not attend. With Covid in mind, please be thoughtful as to how others may feel in close proximity to groups of people. Obviously we're all outside, so there is ample ventilation.
6. Departure
Please ensure that you are back at the Princess of Wales by 12pm to return the equipment.
