Join us for a guided walk through the beautiful Hagood Mill Historic Site, where we’ll explore early spring edibles and medicinal plants hiding in plain sight. This immersive class will teach you how to identify wild plants before they fully leaf out—helping you spot valuable food and medicine growing right in your own backyard.
What You’ll Learn:
✅ How to identify edible and medicinal wild plants in early spring
✅ Nutritional benefits of common “weeds”
✅ How to incorporate wild edibles into everyday meals
✅ How to research the health benefits of wild plants you find
✅ Recommended books and websites for plant ID in our region
We’ll enjoy a leisurely walk (about half a mile) while observing, touching, and discussing various species. You’ll also take part in making a simple home remedy during class—and we’ll share samples of edible and medicinal plants to explore!
Important Notes for Participants:
🌧️ Class will be held rain or shine—please dress accordingly
🚭 Please do not wear perfumes or scented products and refrain from smoking
📓 Bring a notepad and a phone or laptop for classroom learning
🧪 We’ll be making a hands-on remedy together during the class
🌿 Samples of edible and medicinal plants will be offered
🚶 Some walking is involved, so wear comfortable shoes
🍽️ Picnic tables are available if you’d like to bring lunch
🌳 You are welcome to stroll the grounds after class and soak in the beauty
