Please note: To join this workshop you or your business needs to reside within one of the following GM local authorities: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside or Trafford, Wigan.
You also need to be: The owner of a business OR an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.
To ensure we have the correct information, please fill out the Generator Registration Form, or bring one of the following forms of identification with you to the workshop:
- Your National Insurance (NI) number – if you have not yet registered a business
- Your Companies House registration number or Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) – if you have registered a company with Companies House or are self-employed/sole trader registered with HMRC
Kindly note that we may not be able to admit you to the workshop without this information, so we strongly encourage you to have it ready on the day.

Building your Website Part 1: Planning your Business Website
This workshop is designed to move beyond theory and give participants a clear, practical, and platform specific approach to using social media effectively for their business.
The session will cover -
- The different components and function of a website, as well as relevant considerations for optimal performance
- Understanding the concept of taking the user on a journey, and the importance of reflecting the brand in its design
- Consideration to different layouts and their relevant suitability for the website's design
- Knowing what a call to action is, why they are important, and when they should be included
- Understanding what action you want users to take on the website
- Planning website navigation and page structure
Please bring with you a laptop or device to participate in the practical elements of the session. An A4 notepad or plain paper is also suggested, as you may wish to sketch possible layout ideas.
