Six of the seven planets and the Moon will be visible in dawn sky during this week in the final Planet Parade for 2025. Matariki is also visible at this time close to the line of planets.Come down to the Wellington waterfront at dawn and see the planets Pareārau (Saturn), Kōpū/Tāwera (Venus), Hine-i-tīweka (Jupiter), Whiro (Mercury), Te Marama (the Moon), and Matariki (Pleiades) in our skies. Rangipō (Uranus) and Tangaroa (Neptune) are also in the sky but they will be too faint to see. Matawhero (Mars) follows after Te Rā (the Sun) rises so it won't be seen in the sky.
If you want to gaze in wonder at Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, the craters on the Moon, look through our amazing telescopes! We can show you where to find Matariki, but binoculars at better so if you have a pair bring them along. The event is child friendly and free!
Please note we will postpone the event to if the weather is uncooperative.
