About this Event
Few acts capture the existential ennui of living in modern Ireland like indie rockers Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra. The band consists of singer/songwriter Sarah Deegan, drummer Danni Nolan, and bassist Nathan Downey. The trio met while gigging through Dublin’s vibrant underground music scene. Deegan’s songwriting is defined by wry and confrontational lyrics, her voice sitting at the delicate intersection of the raw immediacy found in 90s-alt-rock and the spirit of legendary Irish vocalists Sinéad O'Connor and Dolores O'Riordan. This results in the band's signature sound: a battle-bruised ethereality.
“‘I’ve Been Here Before’ is driven and urgent and bites with angst.” - Aaron Cunningham, Chordblossom
“vocalist & guitarist Sarah Deegan effortlessly manages the balancing act between sensitivity and cynicism, delivering the hard truths of the Irish twentysomething, unafraid to point the pen inward as well as out.” - Stevie Lennox, The Thin Air
"Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra have steadily built a strong standing in Dublin’s underground scene. Melding ‘90s rock and grunge motifs, the trio often recall Pillow Queens in their arrangements and there’s no doubt they will be embraced with a similar outpour of warmth from audiences both home and away." - Zara Hedderman, Totally Dublin
"With their new single ‘Empty Envelope’, the band have crafted another slow-burning, moving ode to emotional resilience" - Kate Crudgington, Get In Her Ears
“A morose, yet barbed indie banger exploring young adulthood through a distinctly Irish lens.” - Clare Martin, Paste Magazine
