About this Event
On May 9th, the day before Mother's Day, we'll travel to Philipsburg, PA to stand in solidarity with the women who are detained at Moshannon and the families who have been separated by immigrant detention.
Our day will begin at10am in Pittsburgh with a visibility event in front of the Pittsburgh ICE headquarters (3000 Sidney St). We welcome families to come with their children to see off the mothers who will be heading to the Moshannon immigrant detention center. We encourage moms to print out a photo of themselves and their child(ren)or of themselves with their own mom and bring the photo. Also - feel free to dress up for Mother's Day. We will also collect donations for the women held at Moshannon. Please see the FAQs for needed items.
ALL ARE WELCOME - WHETHER OR NOT YOU PLAN TO TAKE THE BUS TO MOSHANNON AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE A MOM YOURSELF.
At approximately 11 am, we will board a bus and head north to Philipsburg. Once in Philipsburg, we'll stand together as a visible reminder to the local community of the people detained in the Moshannon Valley Detention Center. We'll leave Philipsburg around 3pm and return to Pittsburgh by approximately 5:30 pm.
Signs are permitted but must contain no violent or threatening language or language that could be easily construed as violent.
