Experience the beauty and wonder of the Pittock Mansion's Christmas decorations with the Edwardian Society. This year's theme is Home for the Holidays: the Decades Tour. Festive displays across nineteen rooms in the Mansion and four in the Gate Lodge will reflect five iconic decades, from the 1910s through the 1950s. Another seasonal exhibit, The Life and Art of Harry Wentz, also is featured. The Pittock is showcasing rare paintings, ephemera, and prints from Wentz, considered one of the most influential Northwest Post-Impressionist artists. Wentz was not only a celebrated painter but also a mentor to many 20th century artists. Henry Pittock personally commissioned him to design and paint the stunning ceiling in the Turkish Smoking Room.
We will meet for brunch at Kells Brewery in NW Portland before touring the mansion. Consider carpooling from Kells since parking at the mansion is limited.
For those skipping brunch, plan to meet us at the Pittock at about 12:45 to 1 p.m.
Admission: $16 for adults, $14 for seniors 65+, free for Pittock Mansion members. Multnomah County residents may be able to check out a membership pass that gets you in at no charge.
