About this Event

🐣 Welcome to the 4-H School Embryology Program!

This hands-on 4-H enrichment program provides everything your classroom needs to explore biology, genetics, and responsibility through the 21-day journey of egg hatching.

πŸ₯š Program Overview

From "setting" the eggs to the first "pip," your students will transform into scientists as they observe the life cycle of a chick (or duckling)! Our curriculum is designed to align with state science standards, focusing on life cycles and embryonic development.

Each Classroom Kit Includes:

  • Fertile Chicken Eggs: 6–8 eggs (chicken or duck) sourced from local farms.
  • Equipment Provided: Incubator, brooder box, heat plate, and food/water containers.
  • Supplies: Nutrient-rich chick feed.
  • Curriculum Guide: Grade-specific lesson plans and activity sheets.
  • Expert Support: Access to 4-H specialists for troubleshooting and an in-person lesson on chickens and or ducks.

πŸ“… Important Dates: Fall 2026
  • Session 1 : September 21 – October 9
  • Session 2: October 26 - November 20

🎟️ How to Register (Ticket Instructions)

To ensure every classroom is equipped, please "purchase" one ticket per incubator/classroom.

  • Example: If your school has 5 separate classrooms participating, please select 5 tickets.
  • Step 1: Select your total number of tickets (1 ticket = 1 full kit).
  • Step 2: Complete the registration form with your School Name, Grade Level, and student count.
  • Step 3: Check your inbox! You will receive a digital ticket and a Teacher’s Prep Packet immediately.

πŸ“‹ Teacher Responsibilities

By registering for this program, you are committing to the following:

  • Daily Maintenance: Monitoring incubator temperature and humidity levels daily.
  • Animal Welfare: Ensuring the safety and health of the embryos and chicks at all times.
  • Feedback: Completing a short post-program evaluation with your students.

A Note on Nature: Eggs are living organisms. While we provide fertile eggs, 4-H cannot guarantee a 100% hatch rate due to the natural variables of incubation.
