Pitney Meyer is a deeply rooted bluegrass duo born out of a longstanding friendship between singer-songwriter and country artist Mo Pitney and bluegrass multi-instrumentalist John Meyer. United by their shared love of traditional Appalachian music, the pair have crafted a sound that feels both timeless and personal.Committed to capturing the warm, organic feel of their music, Pitney Meyer, in collaboration with Serve Productions, built an entirely analog recording studio inside an 1837 hand-hewn log cabin in Bon Aqua, Tennessee — a cabin once owned by Johnny Cash. Their debut album, Cherokee Pioneer, was recorded live to tape over just three days.
Musically, Pitney Meyer explores a rich tapestry of themes — from spiritual longing and Appalachian folklore to introspective reflections on life and legacy. Their songwriting balances mournful eulogies with hopeful, jubilant spirituals.
Their debut single, “That Sounds Lonesome,” was released in July 2024, paving the way for the Cherokee Pioneer album’s launch in spring 2025.
With a commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship, Pitney Meyer offers a refreshing voice in modern bluegrass — one that honors tradition while speaking to the human condition.
