Join us at the Pitch Haus, a pop-up art residency in a shipping container, in the parking lot of the Chelsea State Bank Plaza Branch at 1010 S Main St in Chelsea on Wednesday, June 17th from 6 to 8pm for PART ONE of a TWO- PART CLASS (the second class is on Friday, June 19th from 6-8pm)!According to Wikipedia- "Kintsugi ("golden joinery") is a Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, highlighting rather than hiding fractures. Rooted in 15th-century tradition, it embraces the philosophy of wabi-sabi—finding beauty in flaws, imperfection, and the history of an object. Kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of an object's history, rather than something to disguise. It symbolizes resilience, indicating that broken, repaired items are often more beautiful and stronger than their original state."
This session will focus on glazing the bowl that you will break during the second session and then repair in a modern way with a glue and gold powder. Bowls will be taken to the studio in Chelsea, fired, and then will be returned on Friday so participants can do the second session at the Pitch Haus from 6pm-8pm. Please do not sign up for this workshop unless you can make both sessions.
This session is limited to 15 participants.
All sales are final. Although there are no refunds, should you find yourself unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person.
