Pipo Romero is a composer and guitarist from Cádiz who has captivated the international scene with his innovative “Spanish Acoustic Fingerstyle”. His music blends influences from flamenco, world music, and folk traditions from various cultures, creating a unique sound praised by critics and audiences alike. His compositions offer a rich and emotional experience that transcends cultural boundaries, establishing him as one of the most innovative figures in the acoustic guitar world.
With a career spanning over a decade, Pipo has performed in some of the most prestigious venues worldwide, including
Lincoln Center (New York), Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), WMFT@Taiwan, Folk Alliance International, SXSW and Adriatico Mediterraneo Festival in Italy . His ability to bridge traditional Spanish music with contemporary folk elements has made him a standout performer in both world and instrumental music circuits.
Romero’s first album, Folklórico (2017), was a breakthrough in his career, earning critical acclaim and placing him in the Top 10 of the World Music Charts Europe (Nov 2017). This was followed by Ideario (2018), which expanded his sonic exploration and solidified his reputation as an artist who redefines the boundaries of instrumental guitar. His third album, Ikigai (2022), charted at #28 on the Transglobal World Music Chart and showcased his ability to merge Spanish folklore with Atlantic traditions.
Throughout his career, Pipo has shared the stage with pioneering legends of the acoustic guitar, such as Don Ross and
Pierre Bensusan, and has toured across Europe, North America, and Asia, bringing his music to audiences worldwide. His collaborations include working with world-renowned luthier Michael Greenfield, who has crafted a custom-made guitar to match Pipo’s unique sound.
In 2025, Romero began the year performing in YRAS Ireland before embarking on a major tour, presenting his music to audiences across North America. His itinerary includes prestigious venues such as The Ark (Ann Arbor), Palais Montcalm (Quebec), The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Mansion at Strathmore (Washington D.C.), and the Chicago Flamenco Festival. Additional concerts and international performances were announced in October with the release of his new album “Alborada”.
Bringing Alborada to the stage, Pipo Romero enhances his solo
performance with loopers and live-recorded rhythmic elements,
creating a fuller soundscape that incorporates handclaps, bass lines, and percussion generated in real time. This setup allows him to further explore the rhythmic diversity of flamenco and global folk traditions while maintaining the dynamic energy of his acoustic sound.
The result is an engaging and immersive live experience that
showcases Pipo Romero’s signature style—one that bridges past and present, tradition and innovation. The performance invites audiences to discover Alborada in a fresh and compelling way.
