From October to May each year, The Pimootayowin Creators Circle Journeys to discover their skills in storytelling and playwriting. The Pimootayowin: A Festival of New Work is the culmination of work developed by artists over the past year.
In Anishinaabemowin, the word Pimootayowin means "Journey." Since 2001, this festival has welcomed community members to engage in new and exciting pieces from local Indigenous voices.
Several works that were developed at Pimootayowin: A Festival of New Work have found new life on other stages, notably Rosanna Deerchild's The Secret to Good Tea, which was presented on the MTC Mainstage and the National Arts Centre, and David McLoed's ELEVATE: Manaaji'idiwin, which anchored the 24/25 Mainstage season.
