Join us for an evening that eases you into summer with color, texture, and play.
This Soft Openings event features Pieced Together, a new body of work by Indianapolis artist Candice Hartsough. Since graduating from the Herron School of Art and Design in 2005, Candice has built a wide-ranging creative practice that spans children’s book illustration, editorial work, branding, and product design. Her work has reached from small local projects to larger national collaborations, all grounded in a distinct, hand-drawn warmth.
In Pieced Together, Candice shifts into collage, layering watercolor, shape, and story into compositions that feel both whimsical and intentional. The pieces are bright, playful, and full of movement. They invite a kind of curiosity that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still holding depth.
Candice will be in attendance for the opening. This is a chance to meet the artist, hear about her process, and experience the work up close. We are also preparing for the Bloomington Handmade Market happening June 6, where Candice will be showing her full booth.
Alongside the opening, our Watercolor Art Cafe experience offers a lightly guided creative experience. Guests who purchase a seat can stay and make their own watercolor piece, inspired by the work around them. This is designed to be approachable and relaxed. No experience needed, just a willingness to play. Begins at 6pm.
Come for the art, stay to make something, and settle into a soft start to the season.
