Wait, what? QUAKERS, GARDENERS, AND HIKERS FIGHT DIRTY?
The Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful theme this year is "Fight Dirty," and in this context, we're all about that! We'll be "fighting dirty" by cleaning up a beautiful location in Pinchot State Forest on April 6, and you're invited to join us.
Come spend a few hours having fun in a beautiful place while searching for ancient treasures - er, really, really old trash! The site selected this year has some really strange things hidden in the woods, and there ought to be a lot of good conversation about some of those that have clearly laid there for decades. The only way to see them is to don your work gloves and come help haul them out!
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is providing cleanup supplies through their PICK UP PENNSYLVANIA initiative.
You can fill your bags with lightweight litter, or join together with your most-muscled friends to see if we can get some of the big, heavy stuff out of the forest and off to more appropriate places. Either way, there will be games, prizes, and merriment along the way!
...
Required gear: Your own water (minimum 1. 5 liters, more depending on your needs), sturdy shoes with good support for walking rocky terrain and excellent tread, layered clothing appropriate for the weather, snack. More information about all of this will be available in the pre-event chat, and you can ask all the questions you like.
Recommended: Work gloves; we may or may not have some we can loan you. Blaze orange jacket or vest; I do have these if you need to borrow one. Daypack with your 10 Essentials and whatever else you'd carry for a half day in the woods.
No dogs or other pets, even for your host. Service animals that have been individually trained to do work or perform specific tasks for an individual with a disability are always welcome.
If you need nicotine, please bring patches, lozenges or gum. Smoked/vaped nicotine kills tiny creatures the forest needs.
Since you're seeing this on Facebook, please do message us directly to register. The pre-event chat is optional for this event, but will be very helpful to make sure you arrive prepared.
