The music of two iconic artists colors this exploration of Latin American folk traditions. GRAMMY-Award winning bandoneón player Héctor Del Curto joins the orchestra to perform Piazzolla’s “Aconcagua” concerto in the composer’s signature nuevo tango style, a fusion of jazz, classical, and the traditional Argentinian tango form. Edna Vazquez brings a PNW spin to the performance, mixing the mariachi, Mexican psychedelic rock, and Cuban trova styles of her youth with an edge that unmistakably hails from Portland.
