Three talented pianists who have previously performed at Cutler-Plotkin come together for an exciting show: two pianos, six hands, and dynamic arrangements that will feature their musical virtuosity and sparkling humor. The program of the concert will include tributes to the composers of the Great American Songbook as well as to some jazz legends and iconic entertainers who interpreted some of the most beloved standards.
Pioneers in the use of four-hands piano in jazz, Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi have earned widespread success with their arrangements of classics from the stride piano, ragtime, and boogie woogie traditions, as well as from the Swing Era. In recent projects, they have focused on the repertoire of the Golden Age of Broadway and Hollywood, as the songs written for the musicals of the stage and screen represent a high point of creative ferment in American popular music. Trick and Alderighi explored the formula of four-hands duets on one piano, rarely used in jazz, in their first two albums, Two for One (2012) and Sentimental Journey (2014), and since have released Double Trio Live in 2015, Double Trio Always in 2016, and in 2018 they released their first album on two pianos, Broadway and More. In 2020, they released a double album, I Love Erroll, I Love James P. which features the compositions of two legendary jazz pianists, Erroll Garner and James P. Johnson.
Pianist, keyboardist, composer, and arranger Nicole Pesce has entertained audiences since she was 7 with a unique blend of virtuosity, humor, pizzazz, and her 12,000 song repertoire. Nicole’s “Happy Birthday Variations” video has over eleven million views on YouTube. Nicole has performed for Presidents, sports figures, and renown musicians. In February of 2023, Nicole appeared as a featured headliner for Arizona Music Fest’s concert series, presenting “Isn’t It Romantic – A Swingin’ Valentine’s Day” show. The performance featured Nicole alongside the international piano duo of Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi. Nicole’s “2-pianos, 6-hands” concert was one of the AZ Music Fest’s premier concerts during the 2023 season. Nicole enjoys a full-time schedule performing locally and nationally; she has headlined jazz nights at the Wrigley Mansion, sold out concerts in the Valley, including the Musical Instrument Museum, the Sundial, Chandler Center for the Arts, The Nash, the Cutler*Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center, and many other local venues. Nicole also reaches a world-wide audience through her virtual, internet concerts.
