Trains up to point of live blood collection
Covers all essential theory and skill-set development to meet medical standards
Blood test types, collection systems, consent, legal requirements, blood composition, preventing collection and analytical errors.
Advanced course covers both aspirated and evacuated collection systems, specialised systems, geriatric, neonatal and paediatric collection systems
Route to Competency Masterclass (Live Blood Sessions) awards a Geopace Certificate of Competency.
No other course required to draw blood from patients / clients (consenting adults)
Pathway to more specialised roles within NHS and private organisations
After the course
Safely and competently draw blood from patients
Understand the correct procedures to draw blood from a wide range of challenging situations
Correctly follow procedures when dealing with handling errors
Understand how to safely manage your patient in adverse situations
Appreciate and avoid pre-analytical and post-analytical errors
Know which bottle types to use for different blood tests
