About this Event
We meet at CAT café @ The Film Atelier 314 Sangley Road LONDON SE6 2JT for a late evening meet of philosophy, reflection and listening to one another on the meaning of life.
Philosophy has been preoccupied with the questions of the meaning of life ... and whether life can be meaningfully understood through death. Such big questions are situated within the affective realm of the human subject who asks the questions, as much as the listener and reader who attends to the question.
No formal qualification in academic philosophy required (although it helps); this is very much open to the lay public to explore and make sense of their own questions through others whether coming to philosophy from a western empirical tradition; continental philosophy, eastern, or non-scholastic. We encourage philosophy and philosophical activity: we do not support hijacking of respectful space for personal ideology. Attendees can be expected to listen as much as they talk.
When we reach sufficient numbers, we'll run the group or defer until critical mass is reached. The group is self-curated: do not expect the philosophy group to be structured and led: each participant brings their own philosophy to bear on others.
