The Philippines is preparing to enter the global agarwood export market, a high-value industry prized for its resin and fragrant wood used in perfumes, incense, and traditional medicine. This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the sector, including global demand, competition, and key factors shaping the industry.The session will be led by Dr. Ephraim “Doc Em” Lacson Cercado, MD, DPCS, President of Dendrotonics Corp. A surgeon turned farmer, Doc Em is also a value chain expert for CIFOR-ICRAF (World Agroforestry Center) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). His background spans clinical research, agribusiness, and community development—including consultancy roles with the DBP Seedbank Project and active leadership in the Philippine Native Tree Enthusiasts.
This timely workshop aligns with the #Agrilink2025 theme, “Logistics: The Key to an Efficient Market and Value Chain,” by exploring how strategic planning, sustainable production, and efficient logistics can position the Philippines as a competitive player in the growing agarwood trade.
