2-3 hours, 4-7 miles, brisk pace between stops, exploring neighborhoods in and around Center City Philadelphia for hidden architectural gems, possibility of brunch or early lunch afterward if there's interest.
These weekly exploratory hikes are designed to complement the Architectural Style Hikes that run on Friday mornings. I will bring several pre-planned routes, all between about 4 and 7 miles, with each route covering a Philadelphia neighborhood or a set of interesting streets. The group will decide which route we'll take, so it's choose your own adventure! While hiking the route, we will be on the lookout for beautiful buildings of all sizes and styles.
By the end of the year, we will have covered virtually every street in the neighborhoods of Center City, Old City, Society Hill, Washington Square West, Rittenhouse, Fitler Square, Logan Square, Chinatown, Spring Garden, and probably others!
We will move quickly, only stopping when we find a particularly interesting building. No knowledge of architecture is needed . . . just an interest in seeing beautiful places and a willingness to stay with the group.
