Phil Haugen Horsemanship Clinics focus on the Level 1–3 exercises within his proven colt starting and foundational horsemanship programs. Phil's 'Training Through Understanding' philosophy emphasizes clear communication, leadership, and keeping the horse in a confident, mentally-engaged state of mind.
Phil is certified through the John Maxwell Leadership Program, where he coaches trainers to strengthen their mental foundation and personal development so horse and rider can grow together as a team.
Phil hosts the globally-renowned Be Your Best Horsemanship podcast and mentors thousands of amateur and professional trainers worldwide through clinics, online training, and mentorship programs.
As a Linderman Award winner, North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame inductee, multi-year Western Horseman Best of Trainers & Clinicians nominee, and 2025 Road to the Horse Championship Competitor, Phil brings decades of experience from both the competitive arena and the training pen.

CLINIC SCHEDULE:
Session times are approximate and may vary from clinic to clinic.
Day 1
8:30am-9:00am: Check In
9:00am-9:45am: Roundtable Meeting
9:45am-10:15am: Saddle / Warm Up
10:15am-12:00pm: Session #1: Understanding the Release
12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch Break
1:00pm-4:00pm: Session #2: Establishing Feel, Timing and Balance
4:00pm-5:00pm: Free Ride / Open Arena (Optional)
Day 2
9:00am-9:45am: Roundtable Meeting
9:45am-10:15am: Saddle / Warm Up
10:15am-12:00pm: Session #3: Introducing Stop, Rate and Turn
12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch Break
1:00pm-4:00pm: Session #4: Mastering Softness and Straight Lines
4:00pm-5:00pm: Closing Roundtable Meeting / Free Ride
COST:
Rider Fee: $750 per rider | Limited to 18 riders
Spectator Fee: $150/day or $250/weekend
Parents/guardians accompanying a minor to the clinic are welcome to spectate free of charge.
