We are excited to bring you Phenomenal Women. The title of this concert is inspired by Maya Angelou's poem Phenomenal Woman (See extract below):Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
This concert is our take on honouring and celebrating womanhood and being proudly and unashamedly ourselves, whatever that may mean. There will be songs in various languages form different parts of the world including Georgia, Madagascar and Hawaii.
You are invited to join us for afternoon tea after the concert.
We are a community choir made of women from different walks of life, different levels of singing abilities and beliefs. We are joined together by our love of singing. We learn and perform modern and traditional folk songs from different cultures around the world as well as original community songs that are inspirational, empowering and connects us to the world.
