ABOUT PETER
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, cellist Peter Pao’s musical journey began at the age of five at the Vancouver Academy of Music. He has studied with a distinguished roster of teachers, including Joseph Elworthy, Ian Hampton, Yuri Zaidenberg, Richard Aaron, Elizabeth Dolin, Hans Jørgen Jensen, and currently, David Cole here at Lynn, where he is pursuing his master’s degree after earning his bachelor’s degree in music performance.
Peter has been recognized in major competitions such as the Canadian Music Competition, the Stulberg International String Competition, and the Forte International Music Festival. He recently won First Prize at the Lyric Chamber Competition at Lynn, with his ensemble, the Resolute Quartet. As a performer, Peter has appeared with the Symphony of the Americas, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and in master classes with Yo-Yo Ma and Gary Hoffman. His musical career is marked by a deep passion and commitment to excellence. Outside of music, Peter enjoys reading, playing hockey, and exploring global cuisine.
