About this Event
For more than four decades, Peter Gardiner has pursued a painting practice grounded in direct encounter with the elemental forces of the natural world. DEAD RECKONING brings this lifelong engagement with water and fire into sharp focus, balancing on the delicate threshold between chaos and clarity.
Join us in the gallery at 2pm on Saturday, 18 April, where Peter Gardiner will speak about his practice and the works in DEAD RECKONING, followed by a live audience Q&A. In this special artist talk, Gardiner will reflect on the experiences and ideas that inform the exhibition, from the volatile seas of Tasmania’s southern edge to the luminous fires and storm-lashed horizons that define his recent paintings.
Drawing on a lineage that extends from Gustave Courbet to J. M. W. Turner, Gardiner reinterprets the drama of the landscape through an intensely personal lens. This is an incredible opportunity to hear directly from the Gardiner in an intimate setting about the physical and imaginative processes that underpin his work.
