Pete Davies needs no introduction to Toft House regulars or anyone on the local folk scene. However, I will let him introduce this gig in his own words.
“In mid 2024 Leigh asked me if I would like to do a night at Toft House entitled, “An Evening with Pete Davies and Special Guests”, giving me carte blanche on who I could choose. Of course, I jumped at the chance. Consequently, in January of last year, we had a great evening with special guests Alistair Russell and Harry Gallagher. It seemed a shame to keep the format as a one-off, and so once again, Leigh and the team have invited me to headline another night with my specially invited guests. Last year’s performers were superb and are hard acts to follow and so I’m delighted and honoured that my friends of almost 50 years, the legendary Wilson Family and Wildcats of Kilkenny frontman, Mike McGrother, have agreed to join me for what should be another memorable evening. Get your tickets booked early!”

“Pete Davies is a first-rate performer who has backed many big names in concerts over the years. He is a forthright and energetic performer with a compelling stage presence and something important to say.” The Cutty Wren Folk Club, Redcar

The Wilson Family - Respected. Roof raising. Spine tingling harmonies ahoy.
The Wilson Family of Teesside have been singing and performing acappella folk songs since 1974. Over those decades members have included sister Pat and five brothers: Tom, Chris, Steve, Ken and Mike. They’re seen as the benchmark for powerhouse unaccompanied singing, receiving the Gold Badge of the English Folk Dance & Song Society (EFDSS) in 2017, the society’s highest honour. The present-day lineup has original members Tom, Chris and Steve and Mike. In 2024 they marked 50 years of singing together with the release of their latest album “Sibling Revivalry”. Along with performing, The Wilson Family promote and encourage the development of folk song by hosting one of the UK’s longest established uninterrupted weekly Folk Club gatherings. Following a highly acclaimed performance at The Royal Albert Hall BBC Proms, The Wilson Family collaborated with Sting, providing the backing vocals on his album “The Last Ship”. To promote the album and subsequent Broadway show, the Brothers performed with Sting and his touring band in a series of celebrated sell out shows at New York City’s Public Theatre.
