About this Event

Join PROCAM Ann Arbor’s very own Travis Howell & Sigma Lenses for a floral photography excursion! We’ll spend the day immersed in the sights, culture, and light of Holland, MI at the height of Tulip Time, moving intentionally through a variety of photographic environments.

🌷Early Bloomer🌷- $25 off early signups, ends March 21st, 2026

Sigma reps will have loaner lenses available for hands-on testing and PROCAM is offering FREE rentals, too! It’s the perfect chance to try something new or finally get your hands on that lens or camera you’ve been wanting to experience.

Our morning begins at Windmill Island Gardens, where we’ll photograph tulips in full bloom alongside one of the most iconic windmills in the United States, De Zwaan. Here, we’ll focus on composition, working with color, scale, and natural light, and finding unique perspectives in a highly photographed location.

From there, we’ll explore the city itself- wandering through downtown streets, historic architecture, canals, and neighborhoods lined with spring blooms. This portion of the day emphasizes storytelling, candid moments, and environmental details, encouraging participants to slow down and respond to what’s unfolding around them.

Midday, we’ll break for lunch at a local Holland restaurant, offering time to recharge, review images, and talk through creative approaches in a relaxed, social setting.

As evening approaches, we’ll shift our focus to changing light along the Macatawa river. We’ll prepare for and photograph the fireworks display after dark, working through low-light techniques, long exposures, and intentional framing to close the day with a completely different visual challenge.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have experienced a full photographic arc, from soft morning light and vibrant color to nighttime motion and contrast, capturing both the spirit of Tulip Time and the fleeting beauty of the season.

Spring in Holland is brief, and so is this experience. This workshop is intentionally limited in size to keep it personal, hands-on, and immersive.

Travis will host a pre-workshop meet & greet/ workshop briefing where he’ll get you up to speed on the itinerary and what you can expect for the day. This is where you can ask related questions about the workshop or setting.

Once the petals fall, the moment is gone.🥀 Spots are limited - advance registration is required. Sign up online or in-store today!
