About this Event
🌟 PeruFolk Kids: Celebrating Peruvian Culture in Harrow
A 4-Day Cultural, Active & Creative Holiday Programme for Reception – Year 3
Delivered by ArtPerUK (CIC) in partnership with Young Harrow Foundation.
✨ A Unique Cultural Experience for Your Child
PeruFolk Kids brings the vibrant energy of Peruvian culture to life through dance, storytelling, arts, and healthy living activities. This exciting 4-day programme gives children the opportunity to explore traditional Peruvian folklore while building confidence, creativity, and friendships.
To ensure every child receives personalised support and the best possible experience, spaces are intentionally limited.
- Discover the Joy of Peruvian Dance
At the heart of the programme is Peruvian Dance, a joyful and energetic traditional dance from the Peruvian Coast, Andes and Jungle often performed during Easter celebrations. Children will:
- Learn fun and accessible choreography
- Explore rhythm and expressive movement
- Discover the cultural meaning behind the dance
- Build coordination, stamina, and confidence
Alongside Huaylarsh, children will also experience other exciting Peruvian styles such as:
- Marinera
- Festejo (Afro-Peruvian rhythms)
- Jungle-inspired dances
Each day includes at least one hour of high-energy physical activity, helping children stay active while having fun.
📖 Culture Beyond Dance
Each day also includes:
🎭 Interactive Storytelling
- Tales of Easter in Huancayo
- Afro-Peruvian music stories
- Jungle adventures with simple instruments
- Activities that boost listening skills and imagination
🎨 Creative Handcraft Sessions
Children will create:
- Jungle-themed headbands
- Mini “retablos” (traditional Peruvian art pieces)
- Amazonian-inspired face designs
All crafts promote creativity, fine motor skills, and cultural appreciation.
