About this Event
Please join Dr. Ilaria Serra of Florida Atlantic University and Italian Portland to hear from Nicoletta D’Avanzo Sorice and Antonio Russo about their experiences growing up in the small town of Roccarainola, Italy. Roccarainola is a province of Naples and is affectionately known to the locals as “Rocca.”
Nicoletta and Antonio both grew up speaking Neapolitan and although they never knew each other while living in Rocca they ended up with similar emigration experiences, and they have both written books about their journeys. A chance meeting brought them together and they have now shared stories. They even wonder if they might be related as D’Avanzo is also a family name in Antonio’s family.
We are thrilled to have you join us to hear their stories and find out more about this special place in Italy called, Rocca!
