Bergman is one of the top directors that other film makers learn film making from. His films ask alhard hitting questions about life, relationships, religion, and self identity. Bergman grew up around the stage and was very involved in plays from an early age, before making the cross over in to film.
'Persona' is a psychological drama about masking, societal values, trauma, and identity.
Cinematography is beautifully captured by the legendary Sven Nyqvist. In this film, Nyqvist renews an interest in photographing faces and people in a very honest way. Rejecting classical romanticism with beautiful visual poetry grounded in reality.
