About this Event
Persistence High: a new work by Miranda Nichols Braseth
Persistence High explores dance training - the time commitment, the discipline, the repetition, the joy, the community - through storytelling and personal anecdotes from the dancers. Dancers speak their own stories while traversing through highly rehearsed, militant choreography contrasting with open, unwieldy scores of improvisation. Wondering at the agency of each gesture executed, Persistence High asks how much of the dancer can truly be seen by the audience. Can the hours and years of dedication and exhaustion be put on display for audiences to grapple with and witness? Finding the intersection between joy and discipline, exhaustion and elation, Persistence High is a dance about dance.
This project is guided by the UW-Milwaukee Department of Dance Faculty in partial fulfillment of work towards an MFA in Dance with additional support from Attack Theatre.
