Sample the sounds of masterful artist Angélica Rahe in a wine and music pairing concert. Taste through a curated menu of wines carefully paired with the songs of this vocal powerhouse & skilled guitarist by Wine Rack Soundtrack's Max Puglisi. With a sound that displays an artist of heightened musical prowess, the Spanish-American singer-songwriter has grown from the soft femininity of "intoxicatingly smooth" self-love mantras of her debut album "REINA", to the energetic and commanding range of her follow-up album autorretrato (self-portrait), showcasing an artist primed for a breakout. KUTX has reported "She writes songs that are unabashedly, unashamedly, about femininity (in all humanity), female empowerment, and self-love. And it’s not simply the lyrical oeuvre of each song, but Rahe’s vocals that carry this distinctive power."
Angélica will share some of her wealth of material in a LIVE wine and music pairing presented by Wine Rack Soundtrack’s Max Puglisi. Join us in this intimate one-on-one concert experience as we get an exclusive look into Angélica's craft through a sensory relationship to four specially curated Spanish wine selections.
About Angélica Rahe:
After touring the world supporting Kali Uchis as her musical director, background vocalist and guitarist while on tour opening for Lana Del Rey in 2018, Angélica Rahe set off on a course to establish herself as a solo artist. In February 2020, after a 2019 move from Los Angeles to Austin, the Spanish-American singer-songwriter delivered Reina, a debut album that was called "intoxicatingly smooth" and "challenges what you think you know about Spanish music."
While the album was immediately followed by a global pandemic that forced cancellation of her 20-city tour, Rahe used the time to expand her musicianship to piano and production and her artistry to commission painting. The resulting work, her follow-up album autorretrato (self portrait), showcases an artist primed for a breakout after taking time for a personal breakthrough.
Where Reina radiated soft femininity, a bevy of love songs and self-love mantras, autorretrato exudes a more energetic and commanding tenor showing off Rahe's range. It's not only Rahe's sultry vocals leading the way this time, and her Spanish guitar has been replaced by uptempo production and low-end, on songs like "Soy Una Obra de Arte" and "Semillas" that display an artist at heightened musical powers.
The end product is a follow-up album that maintains the sensuality that makes Rahe so special as a vocalist while picking up the cinematic production that could lead to a real breakout year for the artist who produced and engineered all the songs on the album. Factor in electric features from Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas ("Ancestros"), Soft Glas ("Sueño Fugaz"), and jaw-dropping verses by AC Metta of Puerto Rican duo Cometta and Dallas rapper Cameron McCloud on "Detrás de la Cortina," and Megz Kelli of Austin, TX duo Magna Carda on the final track, "Comin' Back to Home," and it's clear Angélica Rahe's musical self portrait is flirting with perfection.
