*Sue Chiang Sue Chiang is the Director of the Green & Clean Purchasing Program at the Center for Environmental Health, which is a national non-profit that uses a combination of rigorous science, education, market campaigns, litigation and policy to advance systemic change towards a cleaner, safer, and healthier world. Sue works with institutional purchasers from a wide range of sectors (such as healthcare institutions, government agencies, K-12 schools and universities, private companies, etc) to harness their collective buying power to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals and expand the market for environmentally preferable products – particularly in food and food packaging. She co-developed two GreenScreen Certified Standards for the Food Service Sector with Clean Production Action: one for Single-Use Food Service Ware and Thermal Paper and another for Reusable Food Packaging, Food Service Ware and Cookware that fulfill the growing consumer demand for products with preferred chemistry and can help lead the way towards non-toxic circular reuse systems.

Sue received a B.A. degree in environmental science from Barnard College and completed a double-Master’s program at University of California Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy and the Graduate School of Public Health, where she was a recipient of the prestigious Switzer Environmental Fellowship. She also serves on the U.S. Board of Directors of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) and of the Ecology Center in Berkeley, CA.
