The Britannia Morris dancers will be performing at the Grainger museum, to celebrate what would be his 144th birthday. Morris dancing is performed with hankies and sticks, to live music, accompanied by jangling bells, usually by teams of 6. The dance has a rich history and is frequently performed at festivals and events, celebrating the changing of the seasons. We dance in the Cotswold style, that originated from the villages of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. We dance to a number of traditional tunes, including tunes composed by and arrange by Percy himself. Join us for a celebration of folk music and a chance to join in and learn a dance.
We will be dancing at the Grainger museum on Saturday 11 July between 11am and 2pm. We will be running a short dance workshop at 11:30am and one at 1pm.
Please sign up for the event, although registration is not required.
