About this Event
What happens when art speaks for itself?
When visual artists and performance artists create works in dialogue with one another, embracing the increasingly holistic nature of the art world.
Moving Mosaic Berlin is an art and performance collective. This finale event of our 2025 season features the newest choreographic works of the year by Laura DeAneglis and Naia Urresti, alongside visual art from artists Marine Brossard and Marek Höpel, created in direct response to and in conversation with the choreography. Additionally, as part of this dialogue, the collective presents the latest audiovisual work by J. René Guerra.
People Like Us is a narrative of belonging. Our voices, from our diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, are coming together to tell the stories of society’s misfits and outcasts. We hope to create an environment that invites everyone to show up authentically as they are with the hopes of being seen and heard on a deeper and more nuanced level. No matter what the viewer comes to the event with, we hope they leave feeling seen for their most primal and authentic human needs and desires.
Works Featured:
if it were easy, your grandfather would do it
Choreographed and Directed by Laura DeAngelis
Illustrated by Marine Brossard
Performed by Laura DeAngelis, Tea Nadir, and Naia Urresti
Music by Atmospheric Conditions
A trio performance created parallel to the accompanying graphic cartoon strip by illustrator Marine Brossard. The work amalgamates true stories and primary source anecdotes from the dancers about their grandmothers and heritage. The data given to the choreographer and illustrator was used to initiate the artistic conversation, resulting in one story about our grandmothers. The piece celebrates heritage and offers a soft and humanised take on a population often overlooked or pushed to the corners by society, with a sprinkle of comedy. The trio will be performed in front of the graphic novel strip hanging on the gallery walls alongside a detailed display of this very rich and informative process.
Mis-placed
Choreographed by Naia Urresti
Installation by Marek Höpel
Performed by Laura DeAngelis, Tea Nadir and Naia Urresti
Music by Nuwanliss
A trio about the concept of not belonging, and how our differences separate and connect us with the others, fitting in at some moments and then dividing us. Installation work by Marek Höpel will be on display in the space as the visual artistic response to the choreography.
The Sleep Protocol™️
Concept / Direction: J. René Guerra
Performer: Laura DeAngelis
A video dance that turns rest into an impossible ritual: a body trapped between beauty protocols, capitalism, and promises of eternal youth. An ironic and corrosive piece that subverts the intimacy of sleep into a spectacle of control and artifice.
Join us in this cumulative moment of our year to share with you what we have been working tirelessly on. We believe in our work, we believe in what we have to share, and we believe in you, our community, to be celebrated with it.
