Ferawati Gani, P.Eng., Ph.D.
Transmission Line Engineering Manager, Sargent & Lundy Canada
Ferawati Gani, P.Eng., Ph.D. has almost two decades of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering, focusing in power grid infrastructure and utility related projects in USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia and African Interconnections. Fera is a Transmission Line Engineering Manager at Sargent & Lundy Canada.
Originally from Indonesia and having established herself for her career in different countries, including Canada, USA and Saudi Arabia, Fera has high adaptability and is comfortable working in different set-ups, procedures and requirements. This skillset has helped her in building, managing and growing engineering teams wherever she was.
Fera thrives in working on complex multidisciplinary projects where technical expertise and people skillsets are required. For example, when she was in Saudi Arabia, she led the task force to implement helicopter aided construction for transmission line projects at mountainous terrain, involving the local electric utility, specialized contractors and design consultancies. Another highlight would be the LIRR 3rd Track Expansion in Long Island, NY, US, where she led the high-voltage team for a complex overhead utilities relocation at a highly congested area, meeting the requirements of multiple stakeholders.
Fera’s mission is to contribute to the global effort on Energy Transition. As a transmission line engineer, she is keen on getting this field of engineering and its strong ties to civil/structural engineering to be known by the younger generation so that there will be more transmission line engineers in the future.
