$45In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of pelvic floor health and how to optimize your core/pelvic floor during movement. Concepts covered will include:
basic pelvic floor anatomy
why kegels are only 1% of pelvic health (and not all of us should be doing them)
common signs of pelvic floor dysfunction and how to treat them without surgery or medication
pelvic positioning during functional activities like squatting & standing yoga postures
the energetic/emotional meaning of our pelvic floor
an exploration into how breath work is key to pelvic floor function
a series of core challenging sequences to activate the entire core system (aka the bandhas as we call them in yoga)
This workshop is great for women who have had children (yes, even ones who are grown!) and women who want to learn more about how to optimize their pelvic health.
Dr. Ariel Addy is a doctor of physical therapy and an experienced yoga instructor who specializes in treating pelvic health and orthopedic conditions for active adults. She has gone through extensive training in pregnant and postpartum rehab for athletes, mind-body interventions for chronic pain management, and optimizing older adult wellness with a fitness-forward approach. She is the Co-Owner and Lead Physical Therapist at Rooted Physio & Performance, a mobile physical therapy and performance training company that serves Central Maryland.
*This workshop will be a hybrid mix between seated discussion and experiential movement practices so please come prepared to move. Bring a yoga mat, water, and a journal for note-taking.”
