About this Event
Laugh, learn, and get inspired by a mix of people from Providence as they share their ideas, stories, and creations using the PechaKucha format of 20 images that last 20 seconds each. Named best event in Rhode Island by RI Monthly!
This Month's Theme: Cultivate
For 17 years, PechaKucha Providence has grown thanks to the people who’ve tended it—story by story, night by night. Growth like this takes more than time. It takes intention, care, and a community that knows how to show up. This month, we’re digging into what it means to cultivate—whether that’s planting seeds in a garden, nurturing a creative practice, or preparing the ground for something new to bloom. Let’s celebrate the labor, the patience, and the beauty of finally seeing things take root.
- How do we tend to each other to ensure collective growth?
- What’s a project or practice you’ve patiently cultivated over time?
- How do you mark the moment when something you’ve grown finally blooms?
Doors open at 7:20pm and presentations kick off at 8:20pm.
PechaKucha Providence is built and sustained by our community.
Thank you to our venues, vendors, and volunteers make this magic happen each month. Thank you to the Providence Tourism Council for supporting us in spreading the word about what we do.
What is PechaKucha?
If you haven't heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009. To the best of our knowledge, Providence is the only chapter in the entire world that hosts a PechaKucha Night every month of the year.
