The Route
Our walk begins in the historic village of Hathersage, nestled in the heart of the Peak District. From here we head out passing Brontë Cottage, a place linked to local literary history and often associated with the visits of Charlotte Brontë to the area.
From there we continue the gentle ascent to a small but mighty gritstone outcrop, Carhead Rocks, where we can take in the expansive views across the valley – a great place to pause, take in the early summer evening with a view of the mighty Stanage Edge behind us.
We then head back into Hathersage via the reputed grave of Little John, the legendary companion of Robin Hood. Located in the churchyard of St Michael’s Church, the grave is one of the village’s most famous historic
