On June 27th The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda signed a peace agreement in Washington, DC under the aegis of the Trump Administration. The Washington Accord is supposed to lay the foundation for increased U.S. investment in Congo's minerals sector with Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and others in the billionaire class taking the lead.
On Sunday, August 17th, 5 - 7 PM at the 14th and V location of Busboys and Poets, WPFW, Africa World Now Project, Friends of the Congo and Action for Congo unpack this agreement and its implications for not only Congo, but the whole of Africa with a film screening and discussion about America's pursuit of critical minerals in the heart of the the African continent.
