Join us as we dive into "Singing to the Plants. A Guide to Mestizo Shamanism in the Upper Amazon." by Stephan V Beyer. Released June 30th, 2010. Our main discussion will be on Part 2, but feel free to read part 1 as well.
About the book:
Next book club will allow you to look into a window into the vast universe of ayahuasca. The author is an anthropologist who did his research by going through the training and “certification” of becoming an ayahuasca shaman in the tradition practiced by the people of the upper Amazon near Iquitos, Peru. The book largely follows his training by two shamans going deep into the “science” and the magic . It also examines impact of people like us who come there for ayahuasca journeys. I’d like to see if we could discuss how our own experiences with ayahuasca and other psychedelics compare to what we learn in the book. I have some interesting things to say and probably so will you.
