About this Event
Acclaimed soprano Paula Sides and celebrated pianist Sergey Rybin join forces for an evocative recital exploring the many shades of love and the quiet poetry of transience.
Entitled Von Liebe und Vergänglichkeit (Of Love and Transience) this programme brings together some of the most hauntingly beautiful songs of the early 20th century.
The evening opens with Alban Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder – shimmering, impressionistic reflections on nature and desire – followed by Viktor Ullmann’s deeply moving Drei Sonette aus dem Portugiesischen, works written in the shadow of war yet filled with tenderness and humanity. Erich Korngold’s lush Drei Lieder showcases his trademark blend of Viennese lyricism and cinematic warmth, leading to the radiant finale of Richard Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder, a timeless meditation on love, life, and farewell. Through this programme, audiences are invited into a sound world where passion meets stillness, and where each song becomes a moment suspended between longing and serenity.
Please note: This concert will be filmed for future broadcast.
