Paul Gavin is a dynamic percussionist, composer, and educator based in Tampa, Florida, known for his vibrant contributions to jazz and music education.
Since graduating from the University of South Florida in 2015, Paul Gavin has built a thriving career as a freelance musician, performing across Florida and leading multiple ensembles. He is the Artistic Director and Arranger for both the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective and the Lake Wales Jazz Connection, curating concerts that celebrate legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Ella Fitzgerald. Gavin also leads Mosaic, a band dedicated to the music of Art Blakey, and The Vanguard, which showcases his original compositions. His performances have graced stages like the Sarasota Jazz Festival, where he’s played alongside icons such as Chucho Valdés and Eric Alexander. Beyond performance, Gavin is a passionate educator, serving as percussion instructor at Sickles High School and mentoring young musicians through clinics and his YouTube channel.
