Join curator Aimee Marcereau DeGalan and library staff for an engaging conversation exploring architect and designer Owen Jones’s pivotal book, The Grammar of Ornament (1856), and its far-reaching impact on Art Nouveau. Presented in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition Timeless Mucha (April 18–August 30), this program examines how Jones’s influential design principles—drawn from global decorative traditions and grounded in harmony, proportion, and beauty—shaped the visual language of Art Nouveau and inspired a network of artists, architects, and movements that continue to resonate today. This program will be in the Spencer Art Reference Library at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
