About this Event
Join us for this hands-on workshop to learn how to make your own hand-printed bandana while studying the traditions and global trade influencing West African textile production. Learn how Albany NY was a crossroads of global design influences. Incudes Ten Broeck Mansion textile tour exploring global textile traditions.
Bandana is machine-washable after setting with iron (ironing provided as time permits, or please use your iron at home).
All supplies included. Age 18 and up.
Program includes Ten Broeck Mansion textiles tour (about 20 minutes) learning about the global textile trade and examples in the museum. Program held in King's Place Education Room at west end of Ten Broeck gardens.
To make your visit safe and enjoyable for all:
1) By car: please park in our Livingston Avenue lot (GPS address 138 Livingston, turn into garden area) - free off-street parking. Our historic neighborhood has sidewalks for easy pedestrian access. See our website for information on public transportation.
2) Please wear comfortable shoes for walking on historic, sometimes uneven surfaces (no spike heels) as part of the tour. King's Place building up one flight of stairs. Wear comfortable clothes for a hands-on project.
3) ADA accessible entrance, restroom, and parking available - please contact us for more information.
4) Late arrivals will not be able to stay past the allotted time.
5) ACHA members using member discount will have membership status verified prior to program start.
6) Bring your own water bottle and a light snack to enjoy in the gardens (pack in, pack out) before or after the program. Browse locally made artisanal gifts and our history book selections in our Museum Shop open 1-4 pm. Ten Broeck Mansion Tours available (see our ticket page for details).
7) We are unable to offer refunds for this program.
