Give your favorite furry friend something truly one‑of‑a‑kind! Join Artist in Residence Casey Beal for a playful workshop in block printing on fabric. You’ll leave with a hand‑printed bandana for your pet — or a collection of original fabric pieces perfect for patches, quilting squares, or your next sewing project.
Using Speedy‑Carve blocks and fabric ink, Casey will guide beginners through all the basics of designing, carving, and printing your own patterns. If you already have block printing experience, you’re welcome to join for the community atmosphere and access to a variety of pre‑carved blocks provided by the instructor. The first half of class focuses on getting familiar with the tools and carving one or two simple patterns of your choice. In the second half, you’ll print your blocks onto fabric — sticking with your own designs or mixing in additional pre‑carved motifs to create something uniquely yours. Keep it simple with a border, experiment with repeating patterns, or just have fun printing a whole mix of designs…the choice is yours. *Fabric ink takes about 24 hours to dry to the touch and a full week to cure before washing, so please plan ahead for travel and storage.

Our courses are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
