The Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) Workshop is a three-day workshop that is offered to volunteers, equine professionals and therapeutic riding instructors who would like to work with participants with mental health and/or learning issues. The workshop also benefits those who work with mental health or educational professionals, helping to enhance cooperation and provide a more complete experience. The workshop will cover the role of the Equine Specialist in keeping the horse and the participants safe in this setting and is the first step towards ESMHL certification. ESMHL Workshop Dates: November 8, 9, 10, 2024, Workshop ONLY - Cost: $650
Horsemanship Skills Test Date: November 11, 2024, Skills Test ONLY - Cost: $250
Both ESMHL & Horsemanship Skills Test: $900

How to Register:
Candidates must register for this event through PATH Intl.
To be eligible to register for this event candidates must:
1. Have read and understand all the information provided on the Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning page on pathintl.org/certification/mental-health-and-learning/
2. Have current PATH Intl. Professional Membership ($100/year)
3. Have purchased and completed the PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning Certification Application ($125)(either through the portal or using the application in the handbook)
4. Have purchased the PATH Intl. ESMHL Student Manual download ($75)(either through the portal or using the application in the handbook)
5. Have submitted proof of current adult and child CPR and first aid certification(s) to [email protected]
6. Have successfully completed the PATH Intl. Standards Course and Exam (access will be sent via email within 72 hours of purchasing the PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning Certification Application)
7. Have successfully completed the EFMHA History Video (access will be sent via email within 72 hours of purchasing the PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning Certification Application)
Once all these requirements are met, the candidate will be eligible to register for an event via the “Events” tab in their portal. The workshop fee is $650 and the horsemanship skills test fee is $250. Please submit questions about this certification to [email protected].
Food will be provided at this event for a $50 fee for breakfast and lunch. Please contact the host site directly with questions about food.
