Join us in welcoming the work of Annamarie Rose to the Alliance Française’s Vaaler Art Gallery. Annamarie is a talented local artist whose exhibition captures the passionate love stories and exotic romances of Paris.
Her work embodies the wide range of emotions that love evokes, from passion and beauty to longing and desperate desires.
The art of seduction is very prevalent in “The City of Love” and has, for some amazing reason that Annamarie has yet to discover, coined this title for hundreds of years. This exhibition will embody every part of what love can do to you; from passion, lust, jealousy, anxiousness, and beauty, longing, desperate desires. From the time she spent in Paris, Annamarie fell in love with the exotic love stories, poems, and environment that throughout history the city has seemingly forever attracted and cast a spell on its inhabitants. Ultimately, this exhibition is all an attempt to capture the romantic spell that curses our hearts to fall crazy with love for the city.
The “why” of this exhibition is to help visualize the emotions that love evokes in others since Annamarie believes such passion cannot be put into words, only described.
Organized Chaos: Annamarie’s Artistic Reflection
I describe my art as using poetic visualization to scream at the audience in silence. I define my work as a reflection of myself and my past as well as attempting to put into words the feelings and emotions that we struggle to explain.
My friends and family describe me as organized chaos which I believe is very present in my drawing style. I have learned to follow the philosophy that there is meaning and reason behind everything, therefore I am very direct and intentional with my work and overall lifestyle (similar to German lifestyle), so every hidden detail or background has a “why” for the audience to dive into. For example, the piano sheets, music itself, medium used, or the magazine backgrounds, hidden messages and intense contrast are used to evoke passion and curiosity that can be discussed.
The interpretation of anything is based on your own experiences, and what you see in art should always be unique to you no matter who it comes from, and that is just one of the beauties of it. The descriptions of my work are merely a guide for those who may not completely understand what they see, but I always want what you see to be different from what I see because that is how we expand our creativity and learn from each other.
About Annamarie
Annamarie was born and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota. She is a current sophomore in college at Montana State University majoring in Neuroscience & Cell Biology with an attempt at minoring in mathematics. Annamarie’s artistic inspiration is from her papa who also had a passion for drawing and has always encouraged her to keep drawing and find her artistic style. Even today, they still participate in drawing classes when Annamarie is home and time permits. Her artist name “Goldene Mädel Kunst”, which in German means “golden girl art”, is also inspired by her father since from childhood he always called her “girl with the golden hair.” The inspiration behind the German title is her mother since German was Annamarie’s first language growing up, and her love for her roots in Germany.
